Pathos, 2021, series of paintings, oil on Belgian linen

With oblique reference to the painters Michaël Borremans and François Bard these works begin to address the restriction, interruption, and separation of relationships under duress.

Through the process of painting underlying feelings and psychological atmospheres emerge.

These feelings and experiences are a part of every day but are further heightened when we no longer feel we have control over our lives. Relationship dynamics are never static, but always changing and fluctuating so consequently renegotiated.
